Harness Racing BC is proud to showcase BC BREEDERS CLASSIC DAY – The richest day of harness racing in British Columbia, with four $100,000 final races in one action packed afternoon. It is the showcase of the year for our young horses, two and three years old. Our champions are just amazing young horses.
This Annual event began over 50 years ago. The process begins with the young BC BRED horses aged 2 and 3 years old competing in 4 legs to earn points and from those points the highest earned will become the point leaders eligible to race in the final on November 6, 2022.
The winners of the legs showcase the training of these horses and it is each breeder, owner, and trainers hopes of becoming the next Champion of the Breeders Classic Day Finals.
Robert and Mary Murphy made an unparalleled contribution with a dedication to harness racing that spanned over several decades. To recognize such a commitment, in 2008 the Board of Directors of the BC Standardbred Breeders Society formally announced the forthcoming Breeders Classic Series that featured the 3 year old races as the Murphy BC Breeders Stakes.
As Standardbred owners and breeders, the Millbank family were very successful in major events. In recognition of a family’s dedication in 2011, Harness Racing BC announced the forthcoming Breeders Classic 2011 Series that featured the 2 year old races to be known as the Millbank BC Breeders Stakes.
