Harness Racing BC Social Media Policy

 POLICY 

This policy provides guidance for members use of social media, which should be broadly understood for purposes of this policy to include blogs, wikis, microblogs, message boards, chat rooms, electronic newsletters, online forums, social networking sites, and other sites and services that permit users to share information with others in a contemporaneous manner. 

PROCEDURES 

The following principles apply to professional use of social media on behalf of the association as well as personal use of social media when referencing Harness Racing BC 

  • Members need to know and adhere to HRBC’s Code of Conduct, and Policy handbook when using social media in reference to HRBC. 
  • Members should be aware of the effect their actions may have on their images, as well as HRBC’s image. The information that members post or publish may be public information for a long time. 
  • Members should be aware that HRBC may observe content and information made available by members through social media. Members should use their best judgment in posting material that is neither inappropriate nor harmful to HRBC, its members, or associates. 
  • Although not an exclusive list, some specific examples of prohibited social media conduct include posting commentary, content, or images that are defamatory, pornographic, proprietary, harassing, libelous, or that can create a hostile environment. 
  • Members are not to publish, post or release any information that is considered confidential or not public. If there are questions about what is considered confidential, members should check with the Executive Director. 
  • Social media networks, blogs and other types of online content sometimes generate press and media attention or legal questions. Members should refer these inquiries to authorized HRBC spokespersons, namely the Executive Director or President. 
  • Inappropriate use of social media that is detrimental to the association may result in suspensions, revoking of membership, and/or temporary or permanent removal from the grounds of Harness Racing BC.

HRBC HORSEKEEP SUBSIDY

The board once again, for the month of February, approved the Horsekeep Subsidy program.  Please find the application in the forms page. It must be fully completed to be processed and returned to the HRBC office no later than February 26, 2021.

QUALIFIERS/ SCHOOLING

Qualifiers – Wednesday, March 3rd @ 1:00 pm & March 10th to be determined

Schooling – Tuesday, March 2nd 11:00 am 

2021 MARE REGISTRY

March 1, 2021 is the deadline to submit you 2021 Mare Registry.  Please note that in order to receive the BC New Foal Incentive, the mare must be registered with HRBC.
